The jewelry of Ilgiz Fazulzyanov hits the Kremlin

The Moscow Kremlin will showcase the jewelry works and techniques of Ilgiz Fazulzyanov between April 1st and July 31st, 2016, at the Belfry Tower.

The exhibition named “Jewels Inspired by Nature. Ilgiz F.” displays the evolution of Fazulzyanov’s work through time (1996-2016), as well as the first student works, drawings, sketches, and the most recognized masterpieces.

Ilgiz Fazulzyanov is the first jeweler since Fabergé to be honored with a solo exhibition in the iconic Kremlin. Visitors will be able to discover his creative process, from the early ideas to the final steps of jewelry making.

“My art has taught me to be very focused and to pay attention to detail. The world around us is unbelievably rich and diverse, as long as we take care to look closely,” says Fazulzyanov.

“Is there anything more beautiful than nature? At first glance, it could seem easy to replicate a flower or a dragonfly. Yet, to make an exact copy and to repeat all the veins on a dragonfly’s wing doesn’t mean to express its nature, flutter, delicacy, and grace.”

The contemporary Russian jeweler is known for the intricate and realistic detail of his pieces. Jewelry designer Annoushka Ducas notes her “greatest respect for his dedication to using vitreous enameling and the niche skill of painting enamel that is so reminiscent of fine art.”

The Moscow Kremlin Museums’ collection of modern jewelry comprises over 2,000 artworks. Five of them are pieces by Ilgiz Fazulzyanov.
